Case Study: Enhancing Production Efficiency with Ultrasonic Welding
The Challenge: Inefficient Traditional Bonding
This customer is a medium-sized plastic processing factory based in Southeast Asia, which specializes in the processing and assembly of household appliance accessories, electronic product casings and small plastic molded parts for many years.
Before introducing ultrasonic equipment, the factory relied entirely on liquid glue to bond plastic components. However, this traditional bonding method brought many troubles to daily production. The curing time of glue was long, which slowed down the whole assembly rhythm. Besides, the long-term purchase of glue and cleaning solvent brought continuous material costs. Worse still, glued products were prone to looseness and separation after temperature changes and long-time use, leading to a high rework rate and frequent customer complaints.
The Solution: High-Frequency Handheld Ultrasonic Welder
After investigating various molding technologies on the market and comparing the advantages of hot melt, screw assembly and ultrasonic welding, the customer finally chose our 35K high-frequency handheld ultrasonic plastic welder.
Implementation & Applications
Now the handheld welder is widely applied in the workshop for point riveting of plastic casings, buckle positioning, column melting and partial structural assembly. Operators can hold the welding gun to flexibly adjust angles and positions, easily finishing welding work on curved surfaces, inner corners and irregular workpieces that cannot be processed by fixed machines. Each welding point only needs 1 to 2 seconds to complete fusion molding. The welding spot has strong tensile strength, smooth appearance without whitening or burning marks, and fully meets the customer’s appearance and quality inspection standards.
Tangible Results & Customer Satisfaction
Since the equipment was officially put into mass production, the factory has completely stopped the use of glue and chemical adhesives. The overall production efficiency has been greatly improved, while the rework rate caused by degumming has dropped sharply. The customer commented that the handheld ultrasonic welder is cost-efficient, easy to learn and suitable for mixed production of multiple styles and small batches. At present, this equipment has become indispensable processing machinery in their daily production line.
